Canada, USA, NZ.... Choices, choices.
What is NZ's gun laws. Do they allow CC?
Generally no*, I dont think so, they have 'endorsements' for MSSA (military style [

] semi automatic rifles) and handguns etc but part of the licensing process apparently involves an interview when you are visited and you're asked whether or not you want the licence for self defence, like a trick question
from the polees wibsite;
...............Step 5
Someone will arrange to visit you. They will interview you and check your firearms security arrangements. They will arrange to interview your referees.
You will have difficulty being deemed 'fit and proper' to possess or use firearms if you have:
a history of violence
repeated involvement with drugs
been irresponsible with alcohol
a personal or social relationship with people deemed to be unsuitable to be given access to firearms
indicated an intent to use a firearm for self-defence.
*In Aus CC and self defence is not permissible, but everything that is prohibited is such UNLESS YOU HAVE the OK of the Chief Commish, I have no doubt there are many individual CC permits, I would assume its the same in NZ....
