All explained here for our American friends.
Whilst this is a great video, it takes a gun importer to explain the nonsense we now put up with and not our representative organisations. Why?
Sure, its in the importers interest for business reasons. Without that importer, we'd have sling shots. Nope, not associated with the business other than spending zillions over the years on the guns and gear they import.
Can you honestly say for example "Yep, the SSAA is really looking after us."
My point being, where's media unit of our representatives and why aren't they buying media time and constantly reminding the non shooters that we aren't unregulated gun nuts, waiting to unleash the arsenals.
I've seen many times, representatives at gun shows, competition matches etc wandering around wearing their "VIP Jackets" and their accompanying wives/partners/girlfriends etc going on wine tours.....? Can't see how that helps us, but, if I ever need to know about a nice bottle of red, I know who to call. Golf courses too.....
After spending alot of time reading the numerous posts & topics on this website, I've come to a few conclusions:
1. Our representatives are doing sweet FA in regards to media exposure. Nothing about safe shooting programs or the benefits of being involved in a great sport
2. We need new representatives who are worried about us and not their flash jackets or stipends they receive or golf trips. Shooters Union?
3. If you aren't interested in the long term future of our sport (how many new ranges have been built recently?) then bugger off with your VIP jackets and let others look after our interests. There's so much vacant land near to where I live, that you could easily build 100 x 1500m target ranges. This land won't be built on (subsidence), but, is within easy reach of Sydney metro.
4. The new representatives need to be concerned with all shooting sports. No more vertical silos of each shooting fraternity. We are fractured at the moment and have been for years. You've got people who don't give a hoot about target handguns, but foam at the mouth in excitement at trap shooting. That's fine, but, represent ALL OF US.
The general public isn't going to purchase any magazines and read the Editorials of how much work our representatives

do.
We need representatives that aren't afraid to engage with the media, push OUR AGENDA and not their own.
Apologies for ranting, but, after nearly 42 years of playing with guns, I've had enough of the inability of our representatives to keep the idiots (Gun Control etc) out of the media with the ridiculous assertions, portraying LAFO as lunatic gun hoarding mobs (those recent articles identifying where gun owners are located) and the general "head in the sand" approach our representatives are taking.
I know that some individuals have been in the media recently, but, why no constant streaming of positive media material instead of having to argue everytime a journo writes a horrid story about us?
They certainly have the coin or is that reserved for the nice jackets and wine tours?
