Police officer charged with gun offences, including killing

Post by happyhunter » 04 May 2016, 6:36 am

The charges include using a firearm in a town, using a firearm on a thoroughfare used by the public and destroying protected wildlife.

Good to see a cop getting charged with a firearms offence rather than the usual sweep under the carpet deal

I'd like a bit more information first. Was the cop dispatching a roo whilst on duty and is it a beat up of the media? (I mean who goes into town to 'hunt' kangaroos... it just sounds like there's more to the story), or was it an off duty cop grossly doing the wrong thing and going into an urban wild life reserve to kill animals?

Not necessarily defending him... just would like a little more information first before I cast my judgement. :)

Not much info to go by here. From the info it may be that he came across an injured roo by the side of a room and dispatched it by the side of a road, or he may live in a small town and shot a roo in his yard, or any other number of possibilities. I'm going to reserve judgement on this one.

What does annoy me is the use of picture accompanying the article, though

Doesnt sound like this was an 'on duty' despatch injured roo situation....

"He was also charged with hunting protected wildlife, disturbing protected wildlife and using a firearm in a reserve."

^these are offences indicating he pursued the roo, while the stuff associated with Road/thoroughfare I think are confusing a charge with 'discharging a firearm in a populous place' charge, where road, thoroughfare are mentioned...

I'm sure the union will go hard and defend the officer to death.... and I would not at all be surprised if he gets of...he's a cop, after all....

I'm not about to cast judgement cause we all know how the media beat up any perceived firearm offence. The picture shows a Beretta 92 but no mention of what firearm was used to dispatch said Roo. For all we know, he may very well have spotted a badly injured Roo and used a 22LR to euthanize it like any humane person would. He's mistake was to be seen by some tree hugging hippie green party life member. Yep...much more to this then meets the eye.

Is that a Beretta or clone? emblem looks like the 3 circles bizzo.... but it would be a stock photo, probably.
If he used a handgun it would have mentioned other offences.... but its the media so expect the 'interpretation'.

I think I might have to find my way to visit the Heidleberg mag on that day.... whos coming? you know to support the boyz in blue  :silent:

For those offering the benefit of the doubt to the police officer, without giving too much away he is alleged to have committed crimes that would put the rest of us away. Some info has been suppressed. This is not a case of dispatching an injured animal.

It's not so much benefit of the doubt, but rather reserving judgement until more information comes available.

The media have proven themselves to be extremely unreliable at reporting the truth - and even worse when it comes to anything firearm related. And the article at the top seems very vague in many areas - very little information has been given :problem:

Thanks for the added information. If this isn't a case of dispatching an injured animal, it certainly starts to mount against him - but even so... I'd still like to know the circumstances of what actually happened. I actually believe in reserving judgement until all has been revealed... even if our own legal system no longer gives us the same courtesy as LFAO's...

The 'vague' media reporting is a result of the vague police reporting, funny thing is the only part of the police report the papers appear to have omitted, can you tell?;

Destroy protected wildlife being a female kangaroo

Yep.... they left out the 'female' part, that would have been too offensive and gender 'unequal'...

Come on HH, drop you goss, we wont repeat it anywhere ;) we swear

If you download and save the pic in the article then zoom in the gun appears to be a plastic toy....key things are missing from the left side of the frame. Maybe the reporter was too scared to put a pic of a real pistol in the article cause you know, guns are so dangerous even a pic may kill or maim toy...tards.

looks convincing for a plastic toy.... I did notice no markings on the slide, but anyway, those guys couldn't care less, if the article is firearms related they just go to the photo library and eeny meeny miny mo...

I'm amazed that the media could write an article about firearms that didn't include the wording 'high powered' or 'rapid fire' in it...

I'm not amazed at all. The article shows that police aren't the law abiding super heros that many people assume.
