I have a leupold VX1, has anyone had dramas with them holding 0?
I have had my Savage 340 222rem out putting a few rounds through it. I had a successful trip two afternoons ago with a kill at 249m (not a normal shot range for this shooter a marksman I aint) after several high over the head shots.
The previous day I had zeroed it at 60m in a vice and was happy thinking the damage to the spitzers front lead was spraying pills and going back to store bought ammo was the fix.
Yesterdays effort was horendous to say the least, I may as well been a scare gun in the paddock for all the good I did.
Today could not hit the side of a qld pub untill reverting to waisting a few at a unaware stump with good position and for me steadyness but the stump got away to.
Resorting to a bore site the crosshairs were 6 inchs right of the stump at 100 meters hense the cloud of dust previous off to the left someway. 250m kill two days prior, today fully 6 inch out. no bumps. clean bore, scope is 12 months old no movement in mounts/ rings.
3 clicks down on elevation from the 250m strike (that's not where I wanted to be zeroed at) and moved the mag ring from 6-7 to 12 only.
I must say my previous scope on the gun was a bit unreliable as well being a 3-9 nikko stirling gold crown from when I bought the unit 30 odd years ago, but its eye piece moved, it wobbled and did from new making the crosshairs move concideralbly if wobbled when looking through it. maybe the gun needs to be in an archive not on a shooting trip.
