Having a mental blank here... What was the thing a few years ago with dodgy stations adding something to their unleaded pumps to water down the fuel, caused damage to a lot of peoples.
Something from sugar cane rings a bell?

Diesel bug are microbes that live in the water diesel interface, and they survive on the water. Now every diesel tank will have some trace amounts of water either from bad fuel or simple condensation. This is why its always a good idea to use a fuel conditioner every time you fuel up, to kill the bug and break the water down so it can be passed through and burnt in the engine.
Also diesel with a bio diesel component can also be effect as well.

toluene was one scam additive
no excise on imported toluene so fuel distributors and or servos were adding it to unleaded to boost profit margin.

Yeah that was it.
I've heard some blokes were mixing it to their own fuels to increase the octane rating for high compression motors, don't know if that's true though.

I'm heading out of town this weekend, I might drop some 2 stroke oil in for the return journey and see if it makes any difference to noise or economy.

Chronos wrote:Thanks BFS just thought it may have a negative effect on economy though would be immeasurable I suppose.
What ratio did you use when adding it to a tank?
