The Trump administration doesn't have any regards for international rules and what they call 'rules based order' . He could drop a nuclear bomb over Cuba, and no one would stand up to him. With the recent invasion of Venezuela, he's shown he's above the law, steered by the swamp.

People that are in doubt what the States are planning to do , should read his 2025 National Security strategy report. They'll be in for a bit of a wake up call. Despite the bad blood between the USA and Russia over recent times, he doesn't see Russia as a threat to their global hegemony.

China is the sole adversary.

And will be coming down hard on countries and regions that are participants to their economic, belt and road initiative.

The last president to serve 3 terms was Roosevelt in the 1930s to 1945. They changed the constitution to limit it to 2.

It is very hard to change the constitution. The house must support it. The senate must be in 2/3 and like 2/3 of states must support it.

This is why change is slow to happen in America. I think it is a good thing.

interesting view , and you are right . if anything, grabbing maduro seems like a very smart thing strategically . but putting US forces in venezuela would probably end up like vietnam . fanatical communists, cartel soldiers that look like every other citizen . this could get messy in country , i hope the people rise up to take their country back . 1/3 of the population left the country , that's really freakin' bad . i think trump's smart enough not to involve US forces in country too deeply , but anything is possible

I also suspect that all of this has a LOT to do with punching China in the face for it's increasingly aggressive move using financial smokescreens into countries south of the US.

And Russia has openly stated it will immediately aid and assist China if and when it decides to invade Taiwan and any other country tries to aid Taiwan to counter that.

And if you believe all that, I have a bridge to sell you. Drugs have been coming into the USA since Adam was a boy, from all different States. Including Canada.
So the drugs thing is nothing more than subterfuge which I doubt many believe.

America wants the countries resources as it's been a thorn and the oil cartels side since Chavez nationalised the countries resources.

The thing is that it's no longer 1945 or 1967 where we are gonna fight for every hill top and duke it out. No need to with modern technology.

There isn't much to gain sending in troops right now. Best to let the Venezuelans sort it out internally who is going to hold power. I don't think Trump cares that much what they do internally, only what is best for the USA. And if the powers that be in Venezuela decide they want to be a proxy for drug cartels, terrorists, Iran, China, Russia, Cuba, etc. he's not going to stand for it. If Venezuela wants to be a poor socialist country but be friendly and sell us some oil, great.

I think that is what people have to understand is Trump's world view is what is best for the USA. If people want to trade fairly and be buddies, great. If they want to antagonize us or rip us off or do other dirty deeds, he's gonna bring the hammer down. Just like a few months ago Australia and the USA did a bunch of deals. That tanker isn't Russian, it tried to re flag as Russian on the ocean, which yeah that doesn't fly.

These days it's a race for resources and the Trump administration has pretty much said butt out of South America but I don't think we care that much if China colonizes Africa(which they are).

Essentially the Globoboomer Post Cold War era is over. This is an era where the USA threw open it's doors, funded everyone else lavishly, enacted trade and immigration practices which always put the USA to the disadvantage and now the party is over. A lot of countries and immigrants have been very abusive to our generosity and we're done with being abused.

The resources are finite and habitable areas will shrink.
They’ve actually been doing this since the 70’s but now it’s escalating faster because the planet is warming faster than anticipated.
