The Future of Victoria's State Forests

Post by bladeracer » 04 Jan 2025, 11:52 pm

I'm sure this must've been posted before, but I think it's worth a reminder as there's only a week left to speak up.

The survey only takes maybe ten minutes.

Unfortunately it only allows Victorian residents to sign it which is silly considering how many out of state people utilise them

We're doing them all the time because the people pushing this rubbish are mounting new attacks six times every day. All that keeps them collecting the dole every week is their fervent belief that all people (except themselves) must be locked out of our public lands.

Just put a Vic postcode in at the end when it asks.

I hope you all keep the forests you have. In fact I hope you can gain access to more places. It is a boon to native wildlife, brings meat home to families being raped by uber-rich career pollies, and supports small regional town businesses.

I understand it as well as anyone, I have a national park on my back boundary (yes I know it's not state forest but no difference) and it's infested with feral animals. Pigs, deer, goats and a breeding ground for feral dogs. Each year the NPWS do an expensive, ineffective chopper shoot that does nothing to dent the effects of these ferals on the farms around it. In fact the courier-mail had a headline about this shoot once headed "tons of meat left to rot on the ground".
I did two detailed submissions on the idea to let hunters in all year by permits (I used the NSW system as examples) but to no avail.
Hunting in NP's doesn't interest me at all, but to others it's the best, lowest cost, non-waste idea.
But both times, some low-down pimply faced university educated no-brained mummysboy Muppet reckoned "it's not on our list to consider"

Good luck fellas.

Agree 100%
Went to a Neglected Park in NSW about 18 months ago. Saw a herd if 10-12 goats happily feeding near a picnic area. Pig sign every where I walked. Unbelievable.

This looks very familiar to the last one and I notice that there are pins being dropped in the same locations as last time for the same reasons, hunting, 4WD, wood collecting, bushwalking. Not many participants either only 366 but generally typical for these types of surveys.

Been a while since I looked at engage Victoria. There are currently 33 consultations open for public comment and about 860 past and present.

Its a full time job being a lobbiest.
