I hope you all keep the forests you have. In fact I hope you can gain access to more places. It is a boon to native wildlife, brings meat home to families being raped by uber-rich career pollies, and supports small regional town businesses.
I understand it as well as anyone, I have a national park on my back boundary (yes I know it's not state forest but no difference) and it's infested with feral animals. Pigs, deer, goats and a breeding ground for feral dogs. Each year the NPWS do an expensive, ineffective chopper shoot that does nothing to dent the effects of these ferals on the farms around it. In fact the courier-mail had a headline about this shoot once headed "tons of meat left to rot on the ground".
I did two detailed submissions on the idea to let hunters in all year by permits (I used the NSW system as examples) but to no avail.
Hunting in NP's doesn't interest me at all, but to others it's the best, lowest cost, non-waste idea.
But both times, some low-down pimply faced university educated no-brained mummysboy Muppet reckoned "it's not on our list to consider"
Good luck fellas.
