Sako magazine question

Post by Bills Shed » 23 Jan 2014, 2:48 pm

All,
I shoot a Sako M78 K hornet. There is a magazine for sale for a L46 Sako. Getting mags for the older rifles is hard.
Does anybody know if the L46 will fit a M78?

Bill

Hey Bill,

Pretty sure it wont.

I think you'll find the L46 magazine has a raised spine on the back of the mag, and the knock in the top for locking into the rifle is cut in a different place.

Won't fit the same magazine well in your rifle :(

Ok it was worth the question. Thanks for the info.

Sako did not get back to me when I posed the question to them. The LGS are also unsure and the seller (mainland) wants me to bring the rifle in for checking.

The creek between my state and the mainland can be an issue sometimes.

Bill.

Tough to see from the different angle, but here are pics of the two magazines to compare.

Dug up from a folder on a broken website so no additional info, but some noticeable differences there.

Gunna say no I think.
