Geco .22lr pistol, 50 metres, bipod no rear bag.

100 rounds in, 50 of Geco pistol .22lr and SK Match rifle and one mis load.. I think that was how I loaded the mag.

CZ magazine seems to be holding up..

Put through 200 rounds. No issues.. Well no issues with the rifle lol.

Why do guys with muzzle breaks setup a next to the only person on the range.....

Decided to do some ammo testing mainly because I am finding it hard to get Eley Club / Sport / Team at the moment.

Top row is a round my wife bought for me as a gift, I was mainly going to use it as pistol ammo but it didn't perform as well as CCI Standard velocity

Top row, Greco Pistol .22lr standard velocity rounds. Ignore the sighter target, I had to come up a fair way from CCI minimags that I was rabbiting with. My local gun shop sells it for $7 a box of 50.

Bottom row SK Match Rifle, I made a small windage adjustment. My local sells these for $12 a box of 50.

For those interested, I shoot right to left on the targets.

Each target excluding the sighter has 10 rounds and there isn't much of a difference between the two rounds.

For $7 a box I think I will use the geco as my backup ammo

I shot a fair bit today. Cci standard ($6 per box) went the best but the wind popped up after a few groups.

6x cci groups of 5 shots at 50m averaged 13.5mm. best group was 10mm. Eley hp went well and was better than RWS hp but the wind was getting up a bit by then.

No not really.. the guys at the counter ask.. But most times they just say Range A mate.... you choose your bay.

Hey if you want to use a muzzle break, shoot your 300 blackout at a 50 metre range kudos to you.. However be courteous and when there are 7 of the 8 bays available don't sit next to the only person in the range.

Wade looking good.. CCI doesnt work so well in mine.. Its a shame as i have about 3000 rounds in the safe.

Luckily the pistol likes them.

From a rather helpful Lithgow Arms support member:

"The issue of stovepiping was primarily to do with the magazine follower angle with the very particular way that your rifle tolerances all stack up together" ... "The key issue with the stovepiping is the feed angle- solve that and you have 90% of the issues disappear".

"There is little difference between the magazine bodies- from what I understand it is merely a different amount of colourant in the magazine material, and it certainly isn’t the key thing" (that causes variation in feed reliability).

Alright, who did you have to beat up before they would spill that kinda info, whenever i asked it was glossed over compleatly

Not with my rifle, It had nothing to do with the follower. I had bent that f&$$er all sorts or ways..

It does however have to do with manufacturing tolerances on the magazine.. Eg my magazine and the replacement magazine were out of shape at the rear by .25mm which caused the bolt to push the rear of the magazine downwards presenting the round at different angles depending on the pressure I was applying to the bolt.

Removing the excess material from the magazine resolved the issue.

(Also replacing the magazine with a CZ one)

I am not saying there isn't an issue with the follower, I am sure there are, but I can guarantee the a fair percentage of issues are the magazine being out of shape rather than the follower being out of shape

Just need a HV HP.. what works best for you guys in the crossover or any 22?

Best ammo so far in my Ruger American is Eley Match and Eley Edge which hold about 2MoA out to 100 yards, and Remington Cyclone which holds 2MoA out to 50 yards - I haven't shot this stuff at 100yds yet as it's supersonic.
CCI Quiet Seg HP is very quiet and shoots around 3.5MoA out to 50 yards, haven't shot groups at 100 yards with it.
For hunting I use CCI Stingers and Mini-Mags, but their accuracy is not outstanding, around 4MoA to 70yds. With non-subsonic stuff you might find accuracy falls apart when they go subsonic - I find the Stingers only good to about 70yds.

I tried RWS HVHP in the American and my BSA Sportsman but it wasn't good in either.

CCI hollow point Mini mags shoot really well in my Lithgow and are my standard ammo now.
Federal bulk pack HV HP's also shoot quite well, so do Remmy bucket 'o' bullets.

Thanks. Tried eley match and it wasn't any better than CCI standard (10mm at 50m or 0.7 MOA) which is a fraction of the price. Eley sub hp shoots 11mm at 50m. CCI Quiet is rubbish for me but CCI Quiet Segmented is great out to 50m.... 8mm groups at 25m.

Thanks Wylie, My crossover loves the other CCI rounds so I may try mini mag.... I don't get the chance to shoot much HV ammo though.

Velocitors are one that I've wanted to try but have never seen any.
I really wish more shops would offer postage on ammo, I can only try what I find around local dealers.

Try the Velocitors. They shoot and kill well done in my t-bolt and from other forum reports they shoot well in a variety of guns. Give 'em a go.

Hey guys,
bought one coupla weeks back,walnut stock,
Took outa the box and shot 93 pills,after 38 or so
was putting into bottle top @ 58mtrs lying prone
using Aldi cooler bag full of work shirts as a rest...
I'm sure at proper bench rest you guys would do better.
We are very happy with rifle thus far cheers catman and the girl
