Just got off the phone with registry nsw.

They are only now going through applications received at the end of July. So those of you who applied late July and start of August your wait is almost over..

For the rest of us, well.... We've still got months to go.

There's no balls in the NSW registry to be on as I believe it's an all female staff these days.

In a round about way its good there is a backlog. I would assume it means there is a deluge of new applicants. The more people that take up shooting as a hobby the better for all of us.

Same issues in SA, they are 6 weeks behind. I rang them today and complained again... looks like mine is finally getting processed.

July?! seriously? That's actually insane. One of the few benefits of the ACT system is you do it all face to face so no chance at getting lost in the mail or anything like that. Every time I've dealt with them they know you're going to show up 28 days later so they have everything waiting for you in the morning when you get there.

Quick update for those who are following this thread;

at the beginning of last week I contacted the registry regarding my licence application, was informed that it was at least another month away;

contact was made again today, i didn't call but a friend of mine in a similar situation did; they are still processing end of July.

Just thought to keep those who are waiting for licencing in the loop

Good to know OB, so I won't bother with keeping this thead updated and other new shooters can do their own leg work.

Just thought that if I kept them in the loop they won't have to sit on hold for however long they've had to wait thus far.

As for for further participation on this forum... I think I might just go back to reading it and not participating.

Are we talking about Firearms Licences or PTA's.

Big difference, same as 1st PTA to subsequent one's of the same catagory.

The last PTA I did a couple of months ago for a Cat B took just over one week.

My B709A application took just over 30 days as they forgot to get the Boss to sign a big pile of them, once reminded they still took a week to get it in the mail. Didn't matter in the end as the Firearms Bolt I was inporting didn't get picked up by Customs, just a Quarantine Inspection by Australia Post.

Posted mine on the 20th August, they received it on the 26th. Best guess as to when they get to process it is mid to late NOVEMBER
