Firearm Storage Location - PTA already submitted

Post by davidjanssen » 17 Oct 2016, 3:31 pm

Gday all,

Been a long time lurker on these forums and have recently received my licence.

On the weekend I purchased a CZ 452 and the dealer submitted my PTA (presumably online?)

Because I am currently renting and moving into a purchased property in January 2017, I am not bolting my new safe down until I moved into my new place. My close friend at work has a large safe and current A&B licence and is happy to store my firearm until the new place is ready.

When the dealer was processing my paperwork, I advised the storage location will be different to the address on my licence, he advised this will need to be followed up once I receive my permit.

Would I then need to contact licensing and regulations once I have this permit? or is there another form that will come with my permit I can complete? Or could I go into my local police station and talk to the DFO?

Any advise will be great.

P.S Hope to get to know a few of you in the next coming months :) :drinks:

It will be fine ... just so long as you advice the registry of correct location of firearms.

G'day davidjanssen,
There will not be another form with your PTA. As Mr Winchester noted, just email LRD with your storage address, but there is an actual form if you want to use it, it is VP1395, Change of Details Form(Business & Personal). This can be downloaded from the VicPol website. Welcome to the forum, and to shooting, hope you enjoy it as much as I do and continue on for many years to come.

Yep that's what I would have done, better to get the correct info from those who make the rules than rely on f*** knows who to give you the "Correct" info, should save any issues in the long run I would think.

Good luck and enjoy the new rifle mate, should be a rippa.

Re: PTA wait period

In case anyone is wondering what the PTA wait is in NSW.

I sent my second PTA in a couple of weeks ago (B2 Centrefire).
It took 13 days to show up on my visa.
Another 2 days to show up on the web site as being processed.
I'm expecting I will receive it at least 3 weeks after the date I posted it.

EDIT. PTA Arrived 3 weeks and 1 day after i sent it. Pick up my 243 this afternoon.
