Peep sights for Marlin 44 and Browning BL-22 - funny

So I ordered Skinner peep sight - rear and front to match, for my Marlin 44. Then, as I was thinking about it, I remembered that I was asking about front sight height for BL-22. Then it occured to me, those random moments when you just remember something out of the blue and go mother-f**er! I went back to the email and realised that I ordered rear Marlin sight and front .22 sight. F@#k! Then I thought, well, I could send one back, wait for a very long time, get the new ones, etc. No! So I ordered receiver 22 sight and front 44 sight.

Sort of funny $140 mistake. But now I am in two minds about putting peep sights on the 22.

The peep sight is seeming less and less necessary to me the more i use my BL-22. I almost ordered one last week but have had some more time to get used to the standard sights and they are getting much more usable for me. Today i was able to push it out to 70ish meters and hit a rabbit sized target about half the time which if you saw my last post about my browning is a heck of an improvement I rarely ever have to shoot at over 45-50 meters in the field and can hit a rabbit sized target pretty consistently at that range now. I don't see me ever having to make a 70 meter shot on a rabbit especially with this gun so was just mucking around a bit today.

Those skinner sights sure look the part though, might be worth it just for that if you're an asthetics man

And speaking of aesthetics..let's be honest here, any decent rifle these days is going to shoot straight. You can argue browning vs Tikka vs Howa till the cows come home but it's all the same sh1t. In the end you choose the rifle you can afford and that you like the look of. It's like Winnie's, Marlins and Henry's. They are basically the same gun but people find certain brands more attractive (Henry of course)

I have a peep sight, Williams, on my Marlin Model 39A, it came from the factory with the receiver already drilled and tapped. I did not have to replace the front sight. I have inherited a Marlin 94 in 32-20 I will most likely put a receiver sight on it as well.

Speaking of the Marlin/Winnie/Henry topics, do you have a marlin supaduke? After having my heart set on a Henry, the opportunity for a straight gripped marlin came up and I'm about a bee's dick away from buying it. Any common issues I should look for when I see it next?

And JS you caught me. Aesthetics are in my holy trinity of criteria to buy a gun. Has to have a purpose to me, look at least reasonably nice and has to be fun to shoot!

Marlins as far as I know have sorted out there quality control issues. Things to look for are the same for any lever. Being a two piece stock, check for good metal to wood fit. Make sure it cycles smoothly, you don't want excessively different pressure required to cycle the lever through its arc. Marlins have been known to have misaligned sights too.

Or just buy a Henry
