Just about any medium viscosity lube will work for brass sizing, from SAE 20 fork oil to 90/120 gear oil. Emulsion is very good and used by many manufacturers including Bruce Bertram, but my personal favourite is lanolin in an alcohol carrier, a 100ml bottle does a 1000+ cases, Cheers.

Silicon spray seems to work fine too, as does lanox and inox, I pretty much use whatever I have at hand these days.

Stop being a tighta*** and buy some redding imperial sizing wax.

It wont contaminate your powder so just wipe the caaes with a rag when you're finished loading. I've been using the same littlest tin for 5 year so or so

I cant understand why you'd use a hydrocarbon based lubricant... of whatever viscosity, when its well known that the 'tightass' recipe of anhydrous lanolin and Isopropyl Alcohol is good enough for Dillon to package commercially??

It smells 'nice' and if there is any residue, a simple wipe with IPA (or cheaper metho) is enough...

Spill the lube over the reloading area - no biggie....

Lanolin and isopropyl alcohol mixed 1:12 in a pump spray works a treat.

Kiwi love lotion is great for this job but pretty much any lube will work.

Truth is, I really have to small size those cases. The wax and other lubes would too often crease the shoulder.
So I went searching around the garage and found the valvoline,,,You know what I mean, Cutter bar oil. Suddenly I had 99% success rate. So not a case of being cheap, It s**t all over dillan lube.
Oh, Small size. My LGS just said shave a few thou off the bottom of your full length size die and bobs your uncle.
I also chem clean the brass so not worried about powder contamination.

Getting lube dents is nothing to do with the lube, you're applying it wrong.

The hardest part of the case to size is the biggest, there's a reason the sizing lube pads only apply lube to the case walls, because that's where it's needed. Excess lube on the neck just gets pushed down to the shoulder junction and formed the dent

That was one of the possibility's investigated. Could have been the problem very early when I first started loading. Would still happen when only lubing the side. Its all sorted now anyway.
