I collected this WBT Lithgow some time ago now.
Had it to the range on eight occasions and managed to score a bad day weather-wise each time.
Have benched it a couple of times and decided to shoot it head to head with a 1416 & 1710 as I know exactly what these guns are capable of given ideal conditions and ammo.
I've attached the cardboard backers from a couple of paper targets shot in gusty, wet conditions with no flags - 25X5 shot groups at 50 with 5 lots of SK ammo. 18 of the 25 groups from the LA101 are .5" or better. All rounds were magazine fed. The Anschutz shot similar groups so I am satisfied that this Lithgow will shoot well.
This latest LA101 has proved to be simply faultless "out of the box." I have not had to adjust or modify anything and I can't recall ever having bought another 22 which didn't require some "fine tuning" to function and shoot to my satisfaction. I've put a thousand rounds of assorted ammo. through it so any issues would have surfaced by now.
I recently sent the gun to "PK" (resident gunsmith at CRM in Cairns.) PK has worked up a few of these and I asked him to lighten the trigger. He also polished the crown & the cartridge pick up area of the bolt for me.
I've replaced the Leupold EFR with a Weaver V24 so just waiting for a good day now - I'll be very surprised if this rifle won't shoot consistent <.5" groups at 50 with Center X.
Disclaimer: Polishing the bolt contributes to smooth feeding from the magazines as well as less bullet distortion but don't try this at home unless you know what you are doing !!!
