Mauser bolt assembly problem

My son inlaw owns this 1904 mauser 8x57. He has disassembled the bolt but can't re-assemble it. I have had a few goes myself but no success. Can any one help.

I have an M1904/39, but I've never had the bolt apart.
It's been described as requiring three hands but there are very good Youtube videos showing what's involved.

AAAh... I see the problem... Its NOT a Mauser. Might be called a Mauser, wasnt even made by Mauser, more a mannlicher. What is annoying is when the punters advertise them as 'Mausers' then have an out of focus image....

Sorry, thats not really helpful....To fix the bolt is easy, junk it and buy a Real Mauser

After watching the video I'm sure Erno Rubik was inspired by Mauser's bolt to design his cube. Disassembly / reassembly looks simple enough after being shown but figuring it out own your own is defiantly a challenge.

It is not, in any way, a Mauser bolt. It is Jose Vergueiro's modified Mannlicher-Schonauer bolt, the rifle has a Mauser style magazine system among a couple of other small details. Apart from being majority owned by DWM, Mauser had nothing to do with this rifle, Cheers.

Mannlicher or Mauser. Does not concern me at the moment just need to get it back to gather. But thanks for the info.

G'day Oldbloke, yes, that vid shows how to reassemble the bolt. Personally I don't like the idea of using the edge of the bench so close to the goolies, asking for trouble. I either clamp a 4x4 to the bench with a hole drilled in it to take the bolt handle, or if you have some heavy gauge copper jaws for the vice, then clamp the handle in the vice, Cheers.

Real mausers come with the reassembly tool built into the stock ....... just sayyin....

Well thanks Wm. That video worked well. Interestingly when turning the bolt head & firing pin 90 deg I also needed to push the firing pin in otherwise it will not rotate to engage the "thread/keyways". This was at the 3.50 mark in the video. I'm assuming the cause is wear and tear.

I would never have worked it out. LOL

And thanks No1Mk3 for the additional info. I have passed it onto the Darren, my son in law. We just thought it was a Mauser made in Portugal!

Worked a treat mate.
Darren spent about 3hrs trying to do it.
Once I realised I needed to put a bit of pressure on the firing pin it was easy peasy.
