Changed Scopes

Post by Muddy1967 » 23 Feb 2014, 1:21 pm

Hi Guys,

I have just swapped my scopes over, I was lucky as I did not need to change the rings.

Now here is the problem, I do not possess a bore sight laser. Is there anyone semi close to Cranbourne that has one I could use to bore sight two rifles?

Thanks,
Clay

Put a dot on a wall & stand as far back as you can, so you can still see it. Look through the barrel so you can see the dot. Then do the same with the scope so that both are on the dot. (Bolt action)

No sorry, but stealing some feedback from a PM with one of the other guys here...

I've taken to just sighting in at 25m so it's reaaaal easy to be on paper straight away and dial it in. Don't have to worry about wind, bugger all shooter error etc.

Just gotta remember you need 4x the clicks at 25m than you do at 100m. So to go an inch down it's 16 clicks instead of 4.

Once you're on bullseye at 25m you're shooting about 3" high at 100m.

Get on bullseye at 25m, then do 12 clicks down on your scope and you should be about zero'd at 100m :)

Give or take a click.

Cool thanks.
I will go do the dot on the wall now.
Saturday is range day for the .222 so will do the 25 yard thing then.

Thanks again for the recycled advise.

I'd just head straight to close range paper too.

I've had 3 rifles bore sighted and all were miles off at 100m anyway.

The scope is working great. :D
The ammo situation is a bit of a bugger, :? trying to find a consistent one is a pain.
I put a good 5 shot group down and when I try again with the same ammo type I am all over the place.

I am happy with the gun buy I am coming to the conclusion that I should of bitten the bullet and got a left handed version.

So if anyone is in the market for a new Marlin XT22 Stainless Give me a call.

I am right handed but left eye dominate so i am a little left hand unco.
but i should force myself to get better cycling a left-handed action
I shot offhand the other day and i have to drop the rifle down and change hands to cycle the bolt.
Now I will have to change my guns to lefties. SWMBO is not happy.

I just noticed you have a 2-10x42 in the zeiss sendit, what's that like? I'm considering the z3 but I've heard good things from the hd5.

I do mate.

I've very happy with the HD5. A while ago I sold a few bits to buy 1 really good rifle and scope to last me a lifetime. I ended on up with the Sako and the Zeiss. At the time

I also looked at the higher end of the Bushnells and Leupolds and some of the Swarovski Z series scopes.

I thought the Zeiss was the best quality for the money. Better looking to my eye than the Bushnell or Leupolds I looked at, and half the price of the Swarovski.

Very happy with it.
