Also, is 1:12 suitable for 22-250?

My "local" Smith has a 20" .224 cal 1-12 twist MAB barrel in stock for cheap ($200) and I was wondering if anyone has experience with a short .22-250 since I am considering rebarreling mine and this would save me around $450 which would top it with a reasonable quality scope as well replacing the existing one.
I know muzzle blast will be horrible and velocity will suffer severely but is it really all that bad?
Cheers,

Sometimes bargains don't turn out to be that big a bargain after all.
All the doom and gloom referred to in some of the posts tends to exaggerate what you may experience. A short barrel is really handy when you shoot alone from or out of a vehicle.
I believe your main area of disappointment may be with the twist. 1 in 12 should be fine for 55 grain but is becoming marginal for 60+ grain bullets unless they are a blunt low bc shape.
To paraphrase a well known room temperature IQ Tasmanian politician, you might not be impressed by the final package.
