PSA - bubafication and consequences

So at the range, I pretty much saw this:

Scoped Mosin carbine in Archangel stock, muzzle brake, rail with scope, fully sick (though nice guy, chatted for a bit). Anyway using the same everything, almost as if this was the instructional video for the person. Thing is, it happened on the next bench to mine and the head of the little bolt holding the muzzle brake (clamp) landed on my bench, arms length from my face.

Now, I do wear safety glasses when I am not sure, for example new milsurp purchase/test... But never because someone next to me is doing the same. Lesson learned. Inspect clown to the left of me, inspect joker to the right and pop me ol` shooting glasses on if unsure.

With all due respect OP, I know I sound like that annoying RO at that annoyingly strict gun range, but seriously you should always be wearing some form of eye protection, even if only a pair of sunnies. Even factory firearms shooting factory ammo are fallible; if you shoot a lot, it's only a matter of time before you witness weird anomalies (where eye-protection could save your vision). For example a dude once shot a brand new 308 at the local range. Second box of factory ammo and the firing pin pierced the primer causing gas venting. A fragment copped him right in his unprotected eye causing permanent eye damage.True story.

Yes it is very unlikely, but if you shoot a lot (and plan on doing so for the rest of your life), weird sh!t and lead splash-back truly does eventually happen; sp why gamble with your vision?

that sort of thing and worse happens there all the time
the RO's can apparently stop someone from shooting a firearm that they see as dangerous but really they don't inspect the firearms for safety as they are not qualified to make that call and it is shooter beware , you apparently have insurance on that range after you have signed in that should protect you in case of an accident but beware of that as well because the ssaa tried to give the bill for the medical and helicopter to the guy who got hit by the ricochet at little river which caused him to see a lawyer to get it sorted out, not sure what happened after that but it shows the loyalty to the public and members who are injured at that range
