Machining accesories

Post by von_klitzing » 25 Mar 2014, 9:20 am

Hey all.

I'm looking into starting a little hobby machine shop in my garage.

I'd ultimately like to work on weapons but the requirements are beyond my scope of budget. So instead, I'm looking at what kind of shooting accessories could be built for shooters?

Machines I'll have are a lathe, milling machine, wood lathe, bench grinder/linisher, drill press and sheet metal folder. I've seen some sexy pics of front bench rests and that would be a start.

What do you think?

Cheers

As a hard core shed addict I can say just start making stuff! The more you have a go at, the more you'll find you can do and therefore the more you"ll be prepared to have a go at. There"s pics of my reloading press i built on the Equipment and Accesories section.
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

If you've got a lathe and a mill I think you're in good shape to make just about anything.

As mentioned you obviously wont be making actions and barrels in the short term. But rests and custom stocks should definitely be doable with all that.

Stocks will be your bread an butter I reckon.

I'd love to have the gear to be making myself a bunch of custom stocks to experiment with.
