Necksize after pulling projectiles

G’day Fellas

If I have used a kinetic bullet puller to extract some projectiles, should those cases once again be necksized before reseating new projectiles?

I would. You would have lost a little tension in the neck.

Yeah it makes sense mate, I did try a few and they still felt ok, nevertheless I think it prudent to do it.

I would generally resize them, which usually means repriming them as well as the neck expander is the decapping pin. You can remove the expander, but then you've changed the neck tension to your other ammo anyway, in which case you probably could've just seated the bullets without sizing.

It depends on the purpose of the ammo. For most hunting and plinking, as long as the bullet is secure I won't bother resizing. For longer-range precision shooting I will resize. If I'm crimping anyway I generally don't bother resizing.

I have done it without resizing, I'm not saying it's right, but it has worked fine for me.

Same. The main issue I see that if you don't have a die where you can removed the de capping pin your going to knock the primer out when you resize case that you have pulled (hammered) the bullet on. So you're probably going to have to scrap the primer as well.

I only had to use the kinetic hammer where I have accidentally seated the bullet to deep or found a powder charge that really didn't work or a bullet that wouldn't stabilise. The neck tension still seem adequate to me. So I just loaded and shot it.

For ammo that you going to leave rattling around in a ammo box or really need the neck tension to be consistant. The safe bet would be to resize the case.

Just try one without realizing. If there is a fair bit of resistance don't bother. I did about 60 a while back and seemed OK. Didn't resize. They mainly just need to be consistent with some resistance.
