There does not appear to be a muzzle-loading forum here (?!!!), so I will post this here & hope that is okay!
In the 18th century smoothbores did NOT use a patched ball, the ball was loaded in the same way as using shot, with wads or wadding.

Nice pics Keith. Haven’t got into smooth bores yet - I can only fit just so many shootin irons in the ute!. There’s a couple of Seymour BP Club members that are red hot with smotothies and will be hard to beat.
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.
