So...im one that gets attached to animals...
Well to be more specific, i get pretty attached to dogs, & i get along very well with most dogs i meet.
One farm i visit had 5 dogs, & on my November visit i didnt get my usual tail wagging greeting from my favourite kelpie mix Ginger...i got the bad news he was under the loader &... ...well you know the rest...
I dont hsve a pic of poor ol Ginger, but he was the happiest little dog & i had a great little connection with him...he always smiled every time i got there.
When i was up in early Jan, i got extra hang-out time with Fred...i think he must have been missing Ginger...
I waa up there for a good 5 days giving the bunnies a hard time every night, & Fred came to hang out every day except one...
Here's Fred last visit come to say hello...
Now when Fred walks up & plonks his head on my leg, he knows i cant help but give him a good scratch...& he'd leave his head there well after it was clear the pat was finished...
Old Fred didnt have many teeth left really, so couldnt manage bones.
So i used to take the time & fillet some bunny meat off legs & ribs for him...
He loved it....!!...always gentle, & waa just happy to be hanging out with me, & he wasnt always sniffing around for another mouthful, & didnt just disappear when he didnt get any more food...
Well, i had a good bit of bunny meat i filleted from ribs & legs specially just for Fred, but i didnt get my hangout visit on the first day...i couldnt find him either...maybe he was out with the farmer...
Sure enough...i had the farmer over to my camp for dinner & got the bad news...
2 days before i got there, poor old Fred keeled over too...!!!
I hate that i get attached...they are not even my bloody dogs & i only see them here & there, yet it still sucks big time...!!
The farmer tells me old Fritz aint travelling too good either, he was best mates with Fred...so im guessing ill get more bad news next visit...
The farmer does have a new pup that is as lively as anything with such a cheeky wit, he certainly puts a smile on anyone's dial who see's him in action.
Thats the circle of life i guess...they were really great dogs.
