First go at jewelling

Fairly happy

Engine turning brushes from Brownells and fine valve grinding paste used, = about $20.

Instructions I found said to bring brush down for 15sec in each place, and maybe I was applying too much pressure with the drill press but I found it was WAY too much at 15sec - shallow divots and minor burn marks (purpling). So I only did about 7-8sec at the end, (as a result the best jewelling is on the underside where it will never be seen hahaha)

But on the whole, happy

Thanks mate - but it isn't really lol that's the good side, other has a couple not quite right places, but in the gun nobody will ever see. The kind of thing that you know is there when you did it....

Note the sizes are for full length Mauser bolt, I had to use smaller bolt at one end and larger at the other for my Sako L461 bolt above.

I think the tubing over the brush is essential (I used RC car silicone fuel hose, tight as blazes)

I also didn't "polish" the bolt to a mirror as some say to. I rubbed it back to 1500 grade wet n dry (used wet of course) and that is the first pic. To my mind "polish is up to 2000grade and then machine buffing with a compound but I think it is unnecessary, 1500 was fine enough.

Hard to tell as I am doing up a rifle that I got cheap and have hardly shot, so I'm not familiar with the cycling, so I think it is a little better but hard to say.

I did it more as it will be a pretty rifle, nice walnut etc. And want to do everything myself.
