What's the best cleaning patches

Just wondering if any of you have a best cleaning patch I've never used patches only strips of chux rolled around a jag but having problems as they now spray them with a substance that holds them together and it goes very tacky in the barrel not good for cleaning when wet they're slimy so going to start using patches best brand and type and do the come in difference sizes for different calibers cheers and thanks

Well, I found two products I really like. One is Southern Bloomer gun patches and the other is Ramrodz.

Looks like the Southern Bloomer patches are available in Australia from what I saw on their website. Ramrodz can be found at Brownells. What I like about the Southern Bloomer patches is they are pretty much lint free and just work well. What I like about the Ramrodz is they are a quick and easy way to clean guns and their barrels. The cotton is tightly spun and they do a good job. I also like their breech cleaners which is like a Q Tip but better more tightly spun cotton. If I just want to do a quick clean and run something down the barrel, mostly I use the Ramrodz.

I dont buy patches.
I buy a few metres of flannelette sheeting and cut/tear it to size for whatever gun I am cleaning. From 2x2for the .45-70 to 3/4 x3/4 for the wifes 6BR

Worn out flannelette pyjamas, best are those with vertical stripes or checks.
Worn out bed sheets.
Cut them into approximately 2" strips and roll them up.
Cut pieces as needed for caliber.

I buy Fourby from the SSAA now. But you can get it on ebay for about $15. Used to be $10 from the QRA. Called cleaning flannel on the 'bay. Four inches wide with red stripes every 2". About 10 yards long. You can cut it to any size you like but you just have to experiment to see what your gun likes. I find that it depends on whether the bore is dirty or clean.
They probably don't call it fourby anymore. I think that name comes from the 303, Full Bore days.

Cotton tee shirts, old flanny shirts and flanny sheets all do well. I usually rip, tear, or cut an ice cream container full of 2-3” squares.

Thanks fellas might try some flanny got plenty of old sheets from when the kids were small (20yrs ago ) might start with them (sheets not kids)

I mostly use the bought rolls.
Some are pre marked with red stripes (as afore mentioned) and some are just plain.
The ones that are marked are called 4 x 2 rolls for obvious reasons.
I have tried cutting my own from sheets years ago, but for ease I spoil myself with the bought rolls.

I couldn't be bothered cutting things up, i just buy bags of calibre specific patches from the gunshop, they cost stuff all and make life easy. Pretty sure all the different brands are the same quality as they all seem to be the same material.
