SR 4759

I was lucky enough to score some old Du Pont, IMR., SR 4759 recently.
I hadn't heard of it before a friend offered it to me, and gee I'm glad he did.

For those that don't know it, it was developed as a specific reduced load powder, but apparently went out of production.
I like a bit of reduced load playing around, but was having trouble getting Trail boss to work in my Jungle Carbine.
No probs now, and the groups tightened up with the 30.06 and 6.5 on cast loads.

Not sure if it's back in production, but it's definately worth a look.

What load/powder were you trying in your 30-06 to start that didn't work well?

Is what a pistol powder, ? the trail boss or the 4759.
Trail Boss will work in many calibres.
I have a great load for the .204 and 32gr BK's, which makes it a quiet 100 yard (max) rabbit gun. About the same noise as a .22 but a little more power.

I can get the TB to work fine in every rifle I own, except the .303, just couldn't get it to happen.
But the 4759 seems to do better in some.

Why shoot reduced loads, ? Because I enjoy reloading as much as shooting, and hitting a target, weather it is living or paper, with a home cast projectile is
also very satisfying to me.

If they're accurate for you, then great.

I tried half a dozen reduced loads in my .308 to try and make it a bit friendlier for the girlfriend and it didn't like any of them.

Had to stick to heavier loads to get accuracy out of them.
