500Kb restriction on attachments today?

Okay, admins seem to have messed with forum settings again
Just tried to add some pics of my shotgun patterns. When I reduced them to sub-500Kb though, they loose so much detail the pellet holes disappear.

500kb is unusable in this day and age, the average jpg in photo quality is upwards of 1.5mb, whoever made the decision to reduce the size limit get out of the stone age and buy a modern pc and put your windows 3.1.1 intel 486 in the trash.

thats a screenshot, not a lot of colours needed and faily basic image, the more detail, the higher the data amount. so photos etc.... 500kb was the main goto maybe as late at 1998 but since then no. its virtually fossilised, either admin is a dinosaur and doesnt know anything or they purposely dont want people posting anything taken on a camera instead of a potato

Why do your attachments not state what size they are at the bottom? Are they external links?

the photo above was at 480 kb as well, definitely loses definition but for basic photo's like l use its fine

it would be hard to pick up the shotgun pellets

this is what l used Blade and then just checked properties for the size

Yours have this, which makes me think it's a link rather than an actual file attachment.

l used resize any photo to get it under 500 kb then imgur to post it up

the photo above was at 480 kb as well, definitely loses definition but for basic photo's like l use its fine

I think that site holds the image and gives you a link to it. I don't think it's actually attaching anything at all to your post. Try attaching an actual picture.
I use Windows Paint3D to reduce my pics.

Try not reducing it below a couple megabytes and see if it'll still let you post it.

Yep, definitely an external link.
Are you using the "Upload Attachment" button below this text box or are you pasting a link into your post?

next to the copy link are 3 dots, move the cursor over it a drop down will happen choose get shared links then copy link with BBCode (forums), then paste on your post

Yes, so it's not an attachment at all.
I have several PhotoBucket accounts, but I really hate viewing a forum where all the external links to images are broken.

Is there any way to get your image removed from Imgur or do they own it now?

as far as l know the image is not saved like when l used photo bucket it saved the images, l do not have an account with imgur
