Very popular target down here as they tend to leave open 44 gallon barrels of secondhand ones at intersections after renewing rails. I just weld them slightly offset to get rid of the holes, good metal.

The fish plates are good, tough steel alright! They don't dent at all! Bullets just splatter on them! Pays to grind the hard skin off the weld sites and pre-heat before welding or the welds are very likely to crack on cooling. We shot the chains off the plough disc twice (because of the hard steel) then I blew a hole through by turning up the current on the welder and holding the rod still so a D shackle could be used to attach the chain.

Frames are made from 1100mm of 12mm steel rod forged to a point to make them tougher and easier to hammer into the gravely ground. The frame loops are 620mm of 8mm rod welded on. 3mm MDF target boards slip in the loops.

One piece frames are such a pain in the ass.

What can I say...I had bits of scrap laying around and they sort of joined themselves up into something useful.
