Now you have me confused! As there is no such thing as a P'17 in Service issue, and your pic shows a British P '14, I have to ask has it been converted to 30-06 to equate the US M1917? Is it a P'14 kept back and converted at the Arsenal for US issue in the way some P '13 bayonets can be found with cancelled British marks and US issue M17 over-stamps? (I would be exceedingly jealous if it was!!!) Cheers.

Nice conversion, the polished action & sight ears seem to suggest a former Parade rifle. The action recess and barrel channel on all stocks will be the same, even the Mk 1* Eddystone "Fatso" stock, which yours is, so at least you have an Eddystone action in an Eddystone stock, accepts the standard M"17 & P'14 actions. The interchangeability problem was with some metalwork of earlier P'14 production and these were designated as P'14 (r), (e) or (w) so Armourers would know which parts maker to use. By the time of the M'17 production interchangeability was standardized. Personally I would leave this setup as it is and buy another original to have as well but that's just me! Cheers and thanks for sharing.
PS: Really like the job you did on that little German single shot.

Just a shame they lack the 10 shot magazine for the 10 round fast details; but nothing a well timed stripper clip can't work around!
Sadly they are becoming painfully expensive these days... I missed out on one in a recent AAA that went for double what was expected
