Personally I keep mine with me 24/7. It maybe ok to have keys hidden away in another room. But if your house gets turned over by a crim and they find the keys, it maybe a bit hard to explain to the locals that your guns have been taken from a locked safe because they found the keys.
Be on the "safe" side and keep them with you at all times.

"Husband! I demand you encourage me to get into shooting!"
"Yes, dear."

Like that?

Nope lol I am the one trying to talk him into get his longarms licence. He had a pistol licence many years ago, but doesn't seem all that interested in shooting these days unfortunately.

Nice idea though. Wonder how that demand would be received?!

I'll try it out one day, maybe
Back from a break, and ready to shoot again :)

Maintaining a pistol license is a bit of work so I suppose that's fair enough.

Longarm license is easy though :?

Takes a few hours of his time and it's done. Slacker!

Thanks Baldrick.

It wouldn't be an issue for my husband when he get's his act together and gets his licence. However, at the moment, finances dictate only one of us can go down this road, which is me! :)

Be careful with this one Jennageit. When police come to inspect your safe the old trick is to ask firstly if you are the firearms licence holder if your husband says no they will proceed to ask for the key or combo of the safe and if he has it you are gone. Licence lost instantly I know people this has happened to.
