BSA 12/15

Almost a year ago another “senior” rifle came my way in the form of a BSA 12/15 in .22 LR
I’ve only just got around to trying 1/2 dozen different kinds of ammo. Of course it likes the expensive Lapua Rifle Match at $14/box. I mean why would it want cheap stuff lol?
It was made in about 1935. In the late ‘30s they were recalled and barrels re lined by Parker Hale who guaranteed that the re lined barrels would be more accurate than the originals. I have no reason to doubt it.
This group was shot off a bench at 50 yards and isnt bad for an 86 year old rifle with aperture sights!
I reckon it’ll do just fine for knocking down 200 yard chicken silhouettes at Rankin Springs in August

I really love old stuff like that. Even more so when they produce tight groups. Your a lucky man.

Great rifle, the mainstay of many smallbore clubs until the BSA International came along. Even in the late '60's when I first started smallbore there were plenty of 12/15's on the line, I'd like to say my Lithgow Model 12 gave them a run for their money but I'd be lying through my teeth! The rifle was up to it, but not me. What sight is that on it? Cheers.

The rear sight is a Parker Hale 7A I believe.

PH 7 or 7A, I don't know how they differed but both were for these rifles.

There was also a BSA version, the BSA No.30. I have one that I had on a Sportco .22 Martini, also have a couple of the BSA No.8s

Nice shooting noisydad

I pick up a heavy barreled Model 12/15 BSA action a few years ago, plan is to use it to build a 41 rem mag as the thick wall gives it a little more strength.

Got brass, dies, timber and enough stupids to build it.

Only problem I cant find a 0.41 Cal rifle barrel.......

Mine has a heavy barrel. Don’t think it’d be possible to get it hot with normal shooting.

Picked up a BSA Mod15 last year. It was listed as a BSA Mod 2 International but when I had a closer look it was patently obvious that it wasn't an International model.
The action is a large frame (thick sides) and has a dovetail machined into the rear of the action. This allowed for the PH peep sight to be slide down into place. I'm on the hunt for the correct sight to suit.
Someone, at some stage, has fitted a pic-rail to the barrel. With a scope fitted this rifle is a tack driver. Love Martini rifles!

Well the Lockdown Fairies looked after me today, First gun shop trip in 4 months and went in for quick look, looking in the reloading section I saw this old Parker Hale contraption sitting on the top shelf. No eye piece but grabbed it for future use. Anyone got a spare eye piece ?



otherwise I found Gehmann make a real nice looking 0.5-3mm adjustable Iris, looks pretty schmick

If you mean the aperture they're very easy to turn on a lathe.

True, that one you posted on Ebay looks like a neat contraption worth investigating further
