Yes bit like my favourite cartridge the 260 REM It's just a reinvention but not as good has to 6.5x55.
The 500 whisper really has my interest especially for it's wind bucking ability considering it's a subsonic load.

It needs a better marketing name than 8.6 Blackout.

It’s based on the Creedmoor / TC case so I’d imagine it would be close to the 338 Federal or 338 Marlin Express in performance as case capacity would be similar.
The American trends seem to be pushing towards subsonic rounds, especially if they will fit in an AR15 platform.
Unfortunately (in my opinion) most of these rounds are going too slow for bullets expand for hunting, and trajectories too rainbow likr to be useful for range work.

Yup, the suggested twist rate is 1 in 3. I was thinking about getting myself a 338 Federal, but with the same twist rate as used on the 8.6 Blackout. Only because I've got a ton of 308 cases. A mate of mine is shooting a 338 Whisper(33 BR) and its cool as.

Apparently a 1:7 twist is all that's required to stabilize a 300gr 338 projectile
I've been thinking about building a fast twist 338 Fed and TSE does a 1:7 twist barrel, on the to build list after I get a compact thermal.
