Any experience with the savage impulse?

I'm considering getting rifle in 308.

I'm considering a savage impulse straight pull. Has anyone had any experience with these yet and if so what are your thoughts?

I think I'd actually prefer a Browning Maral, but the savage is a more approachable price point.

Looks like a fast, slick action but I'm not sure I like the way it locks with detent style ball bearings.
I guess time will tell how well that system holds up.
I just like well proven designs and keeping things simple.

You hear the saying at many gun clubs " once you own a Savage you OWN a Savage!!"

Suppose it can be taken a few ways that quote.

The Ball-bearing locking system isn't new - from memory Heym do use this system also (and probably others too) and its a very robust system at that. Also it isn't the lightest rifle on the block ......

But should serve you well if you want the straight pull - all the rage at the moment.

Thanks Mick, I was looking at their website rather than Facebook. It's an ugly little bugger but if we all held things to that standard I'd be screwed.

It will be interesting to see what price and availability is like. Hopefully it won't be like the Warwick straight pulls.
