Selling un-used factory ammo

The revolver I was planning to purchase has fallen through and unfortunately I had already purchased some S&B 38 Special LRN to use with it.

Can I sell my un-used factory ammo online through a site like OzGunSales or AllGuns.com.au?

I have seen ammo advertised before but I have also read that only dealers can sell ammo?

I have never seen anything in your Firearms Act or Regulations to prohibit the advertising and sale of your surplus ammo, just that you must abide by the requirement to be able to prove that the buyer was authorized to possess that type of ammo, and that you can't sell to anyone under 18. Make it plain in your ad that the buyer must provide a copy or photo of their licence upon pick-up of the ammo, Cheers.

Otherwise just ask around your pistol club, somebody should be able to use it.

In QLD you need a dealer license to sell small arms ammunition, primers or propellant powder, you can surrender them to police or a dealer but can't even give them to anyone else.

Here, this is covered by the state explosives regulations and not covered by firearms legislation, it's likely similar for other states.

My LGS will buy back and do exchange deals on factory ammo provided its packaging is in good shape.

Last time I did a deal on a bunch of old ammo in A1 packaging the owner got on the phone and had it sold before I'd left the stote.

It's probably worth calling a few gun shops.

I rang my lgs to ask if I could exchange unopened ammo for other ammo and pay the difference and they were happy to do so.

May have been different if I'd wanted to return for a refund.
