I find this interesting. Uncertain of accuracy. Number of firearms per 100 people.

I think this is a very sad indictment on Australia. 51st???? Even bloody Liechtenstein is nearly double us!!! C'mon people, BUY MORE GUNS, we cannot just rest on our laurels.

Only about 1 out of 16 households have firearms.
And average number per house hold must be 2 or less. ????

For me these are surprising statistics.

I don't think a survey is reliable for guns owned per capita. If only we had access to state and territory data or ACIC data. I think the number here is higher than that. There's also buyback statistics from 1998, the only known such source.

Well said Tomotron. We don’t have access to the data because the number is much higher. That’s deliberate.
We’re led to believe there’s not enough of us to have any influence.
But you only have to see the amount of transactions in your lgs to realise the figures don’t make sense. That particular store is mostly servicing its own locality only.
Bandt’s recent trip to the US to investigate the gun culture there because why? Because he knows.
Because he wants to know what he’s up against when the two majors in Australia are the greens and labor. That’s what comes next and it’s coming fast.
The cashed up bogan generation is rediscovering their love for guns and it’s snowballing.
On top of that the management of civil firearm ownership has been so horrendous with poor legislation that we continue to grow the number of unregistered firearms.
WA is case in point. You will only be permitted to register 5. Foolish as ever.
Compliance matters. Without it you have lost control.

i noticed ukraine was 88th on that list . i wonder if russia wouldv'e been as keen to roll in if ukraine had USA style proportion of gun ownership.

If you are referring to the one where which I posted regarding WA moving to limit to 5 firearms for hunters and 10 for competition, I have no idea. It looks like it has been deleted. It's no longer in my posts record, not in the WA section and I've not received a PM to say it has been removed for any reason.

Really strange. Only thing I can think is I provided a link to Sporting Shooter's blog rather than copy and paste the post. Perhaps Links are not allowed?

I obviously missed out on what was said after I posted. I thought the thread I started was reasonably benign, albeit a disappointing proposition by the WA Government.
