If you could have a full-auto rifle, would you want one?

Hmm maybe and AA12 with a drum mag. Not much could escape that...

Definitely need the drum magazine for those.

If I remember right they originally had a 5 shot box mag. Would only last you two seconds

Needs the 32 round drum

Along with a couple of other posters here I've spent time in uniform including 12 months active service. I checked out on just about everything from M60, SLR, AR, Owen, 9mm pistol and 3.5 rocket launcher. Firepower is great fun, but the mongrels tend to climb a bit on full auto. So on hand held usually 3-4 round bursts is best. In an actual field situation you have to remember that resupply can be a problem. So you don't waste ammo. Personally I think a good sniper can do more to reduce moral on the opposition that all the rock 'n roll. Love a good bolt gun.

I reckon a full auto .22lr would be awesome fun. maybe one that is gravity fed from a hopper so you could just dump bricks of ammo into it rather than wear your thumb out loading 100 rnd mags.

I would love a 10-22, a semi auto SLR, and an AR15. I couldn't realistically justify a full auto other than fun.
Although for nostalgia, while I am dreaming a Bren would be good.
My Grandfather says he found them pretty controllable when he did Nashos.

I pulled the cocking(?) lever on the side of a decommissioned MG3 at the German Tank museum last year.
That's about as close as I will probably get to a machinegun!
Shck schk was rather awesome......

I honestly hope that oneday we will be allowed semi auto rifles again.
My Gradfather used to love his plain old Sportco semi auto .22.

Full auto - no
Fun to play with the US Minimi in the US but was more focused on limiting the number of shots to remain accurate than blazing away (although blazing was fun, expensive but fun)

Semi - yes

I would not get a full auto even if porcine animals became aerodynamic and they were allowed.

A semi auto would have more use, i dont like many of them as barrels are too short which reduces velocity hence energy.

A ruger Sr22 would be nice,i could live with a 10 round magazine, i would get a longer custom barrel for it along with trigger.

Something like this would be nice-

AA-12 shot gun, three drum mags rifled slugs, use on anything from foxes to clearing paddocks, to buffalo (the hole herd) to feral cats, just so versatile not an over kill at any level a must for any gun safe. Some of them 12g sized winged mini grenades would be just the ammo for wabbits even if 12ft down their burrows! :o

I'd say they would be like jet skis, fun for about a week, then just to expensive to run.

I'd get a CZ machine pistol

Bit of info from wikipedia:

In 1987, Max Atchisson sold the rights of the AA-12 to Jerry Baber of Military Police Systems, Inc., Piney Flats, Tennessee.[3] MPS in turn developed the successor simply known as Auto Assault-12, which was redesigned over a period of 18 years with 188 changes and improvements to the original blueprint, modifications included changing the AA-12 from blowback- to gas-operated with a locked breech. "When the bolt flies back after firing to cycle another round, around 80% of what would normally be felt as recoil is absorbed by a proprietary gas system. A recoil spring grabs another 10%, leaving the final recoil a remarkable 11% of the normal recoil for a 12-gauge round—so you can point the AA-12 at a target and unload the full magazine without significant loss of accuracy".[4]

I'd go witrh an AK , like most people in the know full auto is for suppression fire mainly not really a sniper gun, with the AK's reliability as a small arm It would be my choice ... Especially in a zombie rich environment :D

I think its started when someone did something inappropriate to a monkey. Now its just an excuse to own unrealistic ugly rifles like this:

LOL on the rumour mill Apparently it was started by the NRA when all the zombie movies and tv shows started, to get more people into shooting for the fun factor. Also it's more PC to shoot zombie targets than targets with people on them, for the self defence guys in the states... Thats my understanding anyway.
