I would have thought .84 was a bit big for rabbits unless they are mutating into buffalo's.

My best: Bruno mod 2, shortened barrel, trigger job and 6x fixed scope.
Favourite: scoped 1022 Ruger modified for subsonic ammo and fitted with a suppressor.

J.Stevens & Co of Chicopee Falls made and sold the 5 shot repeater 22 Model 84 from 1936 to 1948 under the name "Springfield" when the name reverted to just Stevens 84c until the 60's. It was also sold as the Savage Model 6, Savage having bought Stevens in 1920, though it operated semi-independantly. For trivia fans Stevens actually made all the Westinghouse Mosin Nagants as well as all the Savage No4 Enfields

I wish there were rabbits here so I'd have an actual answer for you :-)

The Ruger Precision .22LR would be my choice I think if I were going out to a burrow with lots of rabbits. If I were going to go out now to try to _find_ some rabbits, with little likelihood of success, I think I would most likely go with the .204 or .223, both with reduced loads, rather than take a .22LR. They give me the ability to drop in a hotter round if I see a fox in the distance.

I only have one 22lr, a Brno M2 i bought new in 1978. Curently has a 3-9×40 scope.

Starting to see a few rabbits again this year. Must be making a come back.

Either my .17 HMR CZ 452,,,,, or,,,,,,, the Ruger .17 WSM
With those choices I don't have to worry about cutting their heads off when skinning.

10 years back, my favourite rabbit-Gun was my Rem 700 VSF in .308...
The past 4 years, Tikka CTR .223 has been shredding the Rabbitos with enthusiasm.

But my all-time favourite Rabbit Gun is the sweet little 10/22 I bought about 18 months ago.
I even nailed 2 rabbitos at 100 meters one afternoon; re-built my faith in what a .22lR can do..

I did nail two rabbits under the torch tonight with the 10/22. But I’ve really been enjoying hitting them with the 223 and the thermal lately. Not much left for the pot though.

I tend to think of rabbits and hates to be too cute to shoot and I see so few of them that I’m not concerned too much about them damaging the environment. Perhaps I should remember they don’t belong here. The only 22 I have is a stainless heavy barrel marlin bolt gun in 22 mag so I guess that’s my favourite bunny gun It’s considerably more accurate than one expects from a 22 mag. 1984 model I bought it second hand. I got lucky I guess

I loved pinging rabbit's with the good old 22 :D then discovered the 17hmr  and for many years never touched the 22 but in the last 4 years I have only managed to see and shoot one rabbit on the property's I shoot on  so the 1500rds of 17 ammo and a lithgow 17hmr in black and laminated stock with a optika 3 18 scope was sold to help make way for a new boat 8-)
So now a cz457 varmint will suffice if the bunny's ever get back .

Mine was one of my .17hmr's, but I recently bought a new PCP air rifle - an FX Impact mk3 in .25cal.. well this is sweet.
I can sit near a warren and keep picking them off very secretly.
This is insanely accurate, and hits hard for an air rifle.

I use the ever popular and respected Stirling model 110!

Very accurate 22LR 7 shot with cheap scope using subsonics.
