i would say the most foolproof way would be to rechamber into something based on the 57mm mauser case for smooth feeding/chambering . my favorite picks would be 257bob or the 6mm/244 rem, which as i understand it , is a necked down 257bob . both are based on the 7x57 case , which maybe is another option . 257 brass crops up regularly , but beware the cheap winchester brass is NOT annealed and results in split necks .
some of these old euro calibers seem like a good idea , but sourcing brass can be a issue . i had a post war brno 21H a while ago in 8x60s mauser. made my own cases from 30-06 brass succesfully , but it gets old really fast
