has anyone used these for clay target shooting at clubs?

not serious comp... just for fun comps on weekends. main reason is only will have 1 12g .... and dont want the expense of another shotgun

Yes, you're never going to get the Club Trophy but fun can be had. I used to shoot clay and skeet with a SxS field gun, 1/2 and 3/4, apart from the fun it helped with my upland hunting also.

Of course you can use them and it will probably improve your hunting results. However there are shotguns made for clays and shotguns made for field. The difference between them is sight adjustment.

I've shot clays with bushmeister and buckmaster.

You can do whatever you like but most people get a 30" o/u beretta Sp1 or miroku mk70 and will kill plenty of game and have fun shooting clays, trap and sporting.

Shoots okay but with target loads its single shot. 30" is good balance.

more importantly, 30" barrels provide a much better sight plane than 20"

Most clubs will not allow the use of straight pull, lever and self ejecting guns. The reason being is you are only allowed 2 shots maximum for all clay shooting sports and when you are on the line you must eject the unfired round after each target.
Some shooters with special considerations use semi autos but they are rare.
