My mate has one and is chasing it, I told him to sell it and buy a 223.

Agree.
Common cartridges are common for a reason. Ammo and components easier to get and cheaper too.

Couldn’t agree more. He doesn’t do much shooting, maybe once or twice a year so a few boxes would keep him going for a while.
He went to the shop where he bought it and they said they probably see some ammo once a year.
He asked about trading it and they said they didn’t want it.
A few of my mates bought 223 wssm’s years ago after they thought it was the next big thing. It wasn’t.
I told him I could put it up on the used sites if he really wants to get rid of it.

Winchester Australia still have ammunition listed on their web site. Give them a call and see if any is in stock and if so get a dealer to order some in. Also they may be able to tell you which dealers could have some in stock from who they have supplied to. Seems to be available interstate. Northern Shooters Supplies Katandra West have cases in stock; $165 for 50.

They stretch the neck out from .224" to .458"? Or are they like the Blackout and just cut the front of the case off entirely?

with large cal big bores the best way was to chop the neck off WSM and go from there

I ran a 44 WSSM for a while and I used 25 WSSM necked up, thou i successfully made some from 7mm WSM brass

I remember reading the 458 wssm almost reached 458wm velocities with 2205 i think. Sounds like a great combo in a featherweight

Yeah the beauty of the necked 44 and 458 was the case wall wa almost straight and with the strength of the brass you could run 2207 or even 2205.

I had no trouble running 265gr at 2400fps from the 6lb mod 70. Recoil was rather brutal.

.458 sounds more fun than .223 I mean I love my pea shooter but i love my 30cals more lol
