The more independents the better. I know, some are far from great. But at least the house is then more of a reflection of our society with perhaps new ideas and understanding rather than just towing the party lines.

both of those two have done more to support shooters than anyone else AFAIK . with the exception of liberal bridgette makenzie , i can't think of anyone in the two major parties who've done anything other than scare the public over firearms and then penalize LFO when their not the problem. i'm never going to suggest katter or hanson are great main stream politicians , but on numerous occasions independent's like them have held the balance in votes on bills in politics and stopped or amended bad policy . the worst thing to do is throw your hands in the air and say "their all bad" and do nothing come election time

Majority of politicians just come straight out of university, work for one of the major parties and then get elected. No chippies, truck drivers, nurses etc. Just lawyers, and university graduates that have only worked for political parties. They simply are not representative of our society.

For me it's Libertarian party ( was Liberal democrats) One Nation and Shooters Fishers farmers in state - federal elections.
Local council was vote independent she has done a great job for locals in my area.

I will never vote for Labor Liberals Greens or Vegans from Animal Justice party they will be fighting for last on my preferences.

DVOs are sometimes/often abused by women. However we do need them. Perhaps with additional safe guards.

Seems the new proposed WA laws don't include any safe guards in this respect. Nor do the current.

Just displays incompetence by who ever was involved in drafting them IMO

No, the current Act does have a clear specific section on this issue and the question that needs to be asked is as his wife obviously wanted "police protection" whilst gathering her belongings why didn't this trigger a check as to whether the guy had any DV history or suchlike. This would have also shown he had firearms and maybe it was a good idea to confiscate them under section 24(2) of the Act at this point.

(2) A member of the Police Force may seize and take possession of any firearm or ammunition that is in the possession of a person, whether or not the person is licensed or otherwise authorised to possess it if, in the opinion of the member of the Police Force —

(a) possession of it by that person may result in harm being suffered by any person; or

(b) that person is not at the time a fit and proper person to be in possession of it.

(2a) For the purpose of exercising the powers given by subsection (2), a member of the Police Force may enter and search any premises on which, in the opinion of the member of the Police Force, there are reasonable grounds to suspect that any firearm or ammunition may be found in the possession of a person in the circumstances described in that subsection.

Papalia and Co are doing major backflipping in an effort to disguise that WAPOL totally screwed up and he should be asking the Commissioner of Police for an explanation as to why under the circumstances wasn't this action undertaken. It has nothing to do with the number of guns he had, which is being made the centre of attention. But no lets continue to pursue all licenced firearms owners.

My ex partner told the police that I was plotting to shoot her, they didn't give her a Private Intervention Order because they didn't believe her.
She eventually sought a Private AVO which is pretty straightforward and costs less than $50
It's a well rehearsed procedure that is encouraged by women's help groups who also benefit from the lies because they receive government funding for every client.

Her motive for the restraing order was to buy time to alienate the children from me, to claim rights as the primary carer, to get the women's legal help, handouts from the bank as a victim of violence, free furniture and many more perks.
It's lying women like her that make it hard for the genuine women in need of help.

Perhaps now with everything that's going on all men well be treated as horrible DV perpetrators / potential murderers until proven innocent ant those women who bs about it all will continue to get away with their lies Scott free.

I'm sympathetic to blokes who get screwed during a divorce and AVOs. No personal experience but seen a few and read about it all the time.

But society needs them. BUT there certainly needs to be better oversight and better implementation. Probably an entire rethink regarding the legislation in most states.

In this case sounds like WA Police fukd up big time. Now they will proceed to take it out on WA firearm owners, because that's what they do.

Oh, of course the police will investigate the police. How else would you do it?
