Victoria To Ban Lead Bullets

First time poster here.

Victoria is set to introduce an immediate ban on the use of lead ammo for game birds (end of 2024) and extend this ban for deer by 2028.

You're invited to have your say at the following website via both a survey and the submission of a written statement.

There is a document containing the summary of the proposed laws and and official position on each issue by the Vic GMA which you can access.

The survey only addresses some of the proposals which is why it pays to read the entire thing and submit a letter with stance on every issue/law.

There is a reason to believe that this isn't about banning lead for the safety of the environment rather another attack on hunting and gun ownership - so have your say before the 29th of July.

They are putting it forward under the pretences of environmental concern in regards to lead being a toxic metal that poisons the environment and harms animals that consume lead.

I didn't realise lead was only toxic when shooting only at Duck and now Deer, how does it know to be non-toxic when shooting at other animals?

Didn't they do the lead ban in the UK too like a year or so ago?

Completed survey. Will make a submission as well. Got enough lead rifle ammo to last the rest of my life, not looking forward to it being useless in most of the state.
