A new Thermal hunting challenge awaits.

For those with thermal gear,, there is another challenge out there awaiting.
Already popular in the UK with air rifles and small bore calibers,,,, (.177, .22 air,, and .17 hmr upwards, is the hunting and extermination of field mice and rats.

Back not too far in the past I had a play (during our last mouse plague) on the field mice.
They light up exceptionally well under thermal vision
Spectacular on one particular night using 308 HP's
Regardless of what you use,, it can while away the time, and keep your accuracy up.

Even now,,,, well after the plague,, they are still readily found out in the paddocks and bushland.

My concern with thermal is being able to identify native mice and rats. Otherwise, IR works fine at the close ranges of mice and rats in the sheds.

My worry would be putting a thermal on a big springer.
Would it handle the shock?

I killed a few scopes as a youngster before I was told.

A question for bladeracer, You mentioned the Kimberly area and pistol clubs on another post. Which club/s did you use?

I won’t shoot ‘em because they are small and cause no grief where I hunt. Not many. But I do get amused by their antics
