I've got a broken rossi 92 in 44 mag, the ejector broke. I'm not going to fix it cause is shoots like s#it anyway.
I can keep it as a single shot, or buy a new 44 mag rifle. What's your recommendations???
Maybe buy a CVA, Ruger #1 or Ruger 77/44 or perhaps another lever action? Not interested in another Rossi.
I've got about 1500 rounds of ammo left.

I literally just sold my Blued walnut Ruger 77/44 Magnum yesterday, great little Carbine esp with a scope on top so you can take those longer shots out to 150m. I only sold mine because I found my Chiappa 92 44 magnum with a red dot to be much quicker handling esp for follow up shots on pigs.

Nope put an ad up and it sold in under 30 mins, 3 buyers all keen, replacement cost about $1850, lot of coin to drop on a pistola shooting rifle

They have a following but the reality is the split bolt design means accuracy can be hit and miss and unlike regular bolt actions any remedial procedures, bedding etc dont necessarily improve it. Its a long lamented subject that we dont have the Remington 788 still available which was a much better 44 mag bolt gun. Again, quite a few blokes like their ruger 77/44 so take a chance if they appeal to you. I personally never liked the short barrel and low capacity.
If you are looking for accuracy potential the CVA may be top of the list as a single shot but I dont personally know how well they shoot.
Also as others have suggested maybe get the ejector fixed on the Rossi and re-sell. If its an inaccurate repeater is there much point keeping as an innaccurate single shot...
mickb wrote:Bigrich if yours worked okay I wont disdain it but Ive seen threads with blokes having trouble even after shimming. This thread the bloke says trying 4 different shims got his 77/357 finally to be able to hit 4" targets at 65 yards lol.

Thats probably a worst case example admittedly,. Its worth the O.P searching up on it though, see what his level of DIY tolerance is.
