SA Firearms Branch shot themselves in the foot ?

Post by Die Judicii » 21 Aug 2024, 1:05 pm

A comical thought occurred to me last night regarding the banning of bow hunting in SA.

With so much hype/paranoia these days about the sheer number of firearms that are in the community, plus, of course the number of firearm owners,,,,,,
I wonder if the SA Firearms Branch have thought about the increase in both firearms and licensed shooters,, that is more than likely going to happen as a direct result of banning bow hunting.

Did this occur when they made people need a licence to get gel blasters? I feel like most people thought F it I am to lazy.

Also remember when someone registered a nerf gun in SA and it became the laughing stock of the whole world?

Just a reminder. Bow hunting isn't banned just yet.

But I think your onto something. Fewer bows means more rifles and shotguns.

I really don't think they give a s**t it was just to see how much push back they get and if they get away with it they will then focus on firearms.

I didn't know the finer details of who, why, or how it came about.
But was surprised to find that it was banned by the Governor of Sth.Aus because of,,,,,,,,,,

"Three instances of individual ignorance involving the injury of a police officer and separate deaths of a domestic cat and sea lion, all by compound bows and arrows."

Such minor statistics
Compared to the sorts of injuries suffered by police officers on a much more common and larger extent,,,,,, like being injured by a car driven by a car thief.
Yet we didn't see the use of motor vehicles banned as a result.

The death of the cat was probably brought upon itself by a frustrated neighbour because as is so common,, cats are allowed to wander at all hours by irresponsible cat owners,,,,,, and walk all over cars and sh!t and p!ss on peoples front verandas.

The loss of income for sports stores and manufacturers.

I would think that a proper training session (similar to the firearms course for gaining f/a license) would have solved the major part of the problem.
Coupled with harsher penalties for dangerous/inappropriate useage.

Really,,,,,,,,, the SA govt has missed a golden opportunity of regulative income,,,,,,,,, by chopping off the head of the golden goose.

The Police officer sounds like an accident to me, not criminal action. The sealion sounds like that could be criminal action. Unless the domestic cat was within somebody's house or enclosed yard I don't see any issue there. If it was roaming around I would hope the owner was charged as well as the shooter.

Even if all were criminal acts though it's hardly a significant danger to the public.

SA firearms branch has nothing to do with the bow huninting ban.

And a LOT of new bow hunters are getting into it because they CAN'T get a firearms license.

So really nothing will change for anyone except those who bow hunt.

Also,ADA has stepped in,not sure the details but it sounds promising

Spot on . You summed the situation up perfectly. Politicians and authorities have no common sense on these matters cause they are totally ignorant about most things they pass laws on .
