Barrel swap CZ452 onto a Norinco JW15A ?

Post by SPRINT-GTO » 08 Oct 2024, 4:28 pm

I know this is out of left field but interested to know if anyone has done a barrel swap one one of the cheap chinese copies of the CZ452 ,the Norinco JW15A !!
(I usually shoot a CZ457 MTR, CZ453, Bergara B14R , Anschutz 1761 & a Turbo.)
However whilst the above are all fantastic 22LR rifles I was recently given a Norinco JW15A 22LR with a bent barrel.
On inspection appears the barrel is pinned& not screwed.
Considering removing the barrel & possibly replacing it with a second hand CZ452 barrel as I believe these were also pinned & not screwed like the CZ455, & CZ457 were.
The Norinco JW15A looks in fair shape & rather than bin it would like to see if i can resurect the old thing as a project.
Has anybody else had a go at this sort of thing & would the CZ452 barrel fit without to much trouble?
Probably have to headspace etc but this should not present a problem.
Would like to hear your thoughts on this.
Thanks

No idea, I would need both rifles so I could take some measurements. According to the exploded diagram the Norinco _appears_ to be pressed in and does have a barrel retaining pin. CZ452 parts diagram _appears_ to be a threaded barrel.

If the JW15A shoots okay I would just straighten the barrel.

Yep, investigated straighten the barrel. It's been done before.

The CZ 452 is a normal screw in barrel.
I watched the smith do mine about 3 times now.

My CZ drives tack but once had a bloke outshoot me with one of those copies.
