Blind Faith ???

Blind Faith ???

Post by Die Judicii » 18 Oct 2024, 8:25 pm

I did a short stint today,, voluntarily handing out voting slips.
Just my way of saying thanks to the sitting member involved.

Because,,,,, several years ago without being asked, he stepped up to the plate in my defense concerning a complaint that had been made about me
shooting on my property.
The complainant had little understanding of anything shooting related,,,, other than the fact that the shots could be heard from a considerable distance.
(I was simply checking the zero on a couple of rifles shortly before heading out to a clients property for a night hunting dogs) as I make a habit of doing.

This politician replied to the complainant explaining that legally I had every right to shoot on my property at any time I desired or needed, and thus solved the issue.

So,,,,,, today I was volunteering and in the course of doing so, had various short conversations with the other people handing out the other parties slips.

Add that to the multitude of other brief conversations with the general public coming in to vote,, proved to be both interesting and eye opening for myself.

At the end,,,, I couldn't help but wonder at one very significant similarity overall.

Regardless of which political party/candidate that any of them were intending to cast votes for,,,,,,,,,,, (I could hear comments and statements from most) it
was very obvious that these people had absolute blind faith that their voting choice was the bees knees,,,, and would solve all their problems.

A fair assumption for people to have I suppose,,,,,,,,,, but it made me smile. :D :D
I do not fear death itself... Only its inopportune timing!
And,,,,It's been proven,,,,, the most trustworthy females in my entire life were all canines.

I'll be at my local school representing my local One Nation candidate on polling day, and then scrutineering afterwards.
I've been bashing in corflutes, and doing the booklet runs.

One thing it doesn't do is make me smile, not since the debacle in 1996 when I realized that being informed and political is essential.
The voting public majority are terribly uninformed, closed minded and quite frankly, have their eyes closed.
Shooters and hunters in particular. Their past-time is in extreme danger, yet they cannot see the big picture. And it will be completely their fault when it's gone.

DJ: "The complainant had little understanding of anything shooting related,,,, other than the fact that the shots could be heard from a considerable distance."

Yet people don't object to hordes of juveniles riding their unlicenced, uninsured trail bikes, often without mufflers, around country properties or [illegally] on country roads for long periods. I have wondered at times if any of the new chums - who come and go with monotonous regularity - in my district have rung the Police after hearing me zeroing rifles in daytime or shooting foxes on my farm at night. The DFO knows who and where I am so I'm not worried. He also hunts in the district.

Agreed. I did an early vote yesterday, and in my electorate, one nation is the only “shooter friendly “ party to vote for. Besides that, over 10 years ago, auntie Pauline wanted immigration cut as is was unsustainable for our infrastructure and living standards and she got branded a racist. Look where we are now…..
And good on the OP for getting out and supporting democracy by getting involved. After voting yesterday I thanked the electoral officials and the one nation/ liberal supporters handing out how to vote papers and the pleasant conversations.

Remember when the C0v1d farce was going on and politicians desperate for power locked everyone down? Yep, and so many people decided that the agreeing fools living with them, dobbing them in if they went into the backyard to water their lettuces, were the very reason that the politicians get away with it? Then decided to up and move away from the moronic masses?
All we can do is hope that these people do not bring the very cr@p that they whinged about and those leftist, lazy attitudes, with them and ruin the rest of Australia.

And I only back the politics that I do because of the policies they support and their big-picture stance.
From immigration saturating the country with non-assimilating people who bring their hatred with them, taking housing opportunities from our kids who have nothing to look forward to now except subservience, to the obscene renewables farce designed to take our wealth and give it to politician-supporting world financial monsters, and stepping on us all like bugs if we don't nod in agreement on social media.

Politics makes me sick, but how to just stand by and watch everything go down the drain without having a go? To be a slave who is told that what was accepted and normal yesterday is now a crime and so am I now a criminal if I don't agree? Because of an evil socialist plan to control us?

And the NIMBYS.... always real-life uneducated, first to tell us self-importants who decide that the rest of us owe them utopia, as long as it doesn't impinge on them.

And last, the voters. The whingers allowing this to happen with their votes. The majority couldn't tell you the policies of the people they are voting for, because they vote for "personalities", cheap handouts, and fall for lies.

A week ago, I was wandering through my local shopping centre, when a spruiker of the Liberal candidate for my area, went to hand me a how to vote pamphlet. I said to this person, that to get my vote, the candidate would have to be far more credible than the preceeding member. ( as I had some dealing with that person in the past and in my opinion, that person was as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike)
The spruiker got really sh&&ty. Hence my vote went to the One Nation candidate.

I got an email from Shooters Union the other day, you blokes who are members probably did too.

It was about the Qld State election and how important it is to vote for a "shooter friendly" party or candidate and mentioned KAP specifically. All well and good if you live up north, but the majority live in the SE corner. Not once was One Nation mentioned from memory.

I've spent a bit of time with our candidate Liz, and she is a dog trapper, shooter and runs a huge cattle property and supports all hunting and shooting. If we can get some influence in the state election, i.e. some power should we get enough seats to be asked to support the conservatives (Farmers and businesspeople are conservatives after all) we plan some pushback bigtime.

Cane me if you like, but Status Quo gets us nowhere. The Nationals are cowards who have hidden behind the Libs for too long. And the Libs blow in the wind with the hoipe of anybody's support.

We'll see how it goes. People have to get informed. Remember the old adage - Keep repeating the same old failing things and hoping for a successful result is a sign of madness...

As much as I hate labor(and liberal) my local MP is labor and he contacted the police minister on my behalf and helped me with my licence. Now I won't vote for him but I respect him for doing his job.

An MP should work for their electorate not for their party.

People make a choice between ideology and competence.

If you vote for a party who's ideology you agree with but the candidate is totally incompetent then is it as bad as voting for an ideology you don't agree with but the leader is competent?

My issue is the parties these days are essentially the same with one being a lighter version of the other other spectrum both run by incompetent politicians and high level bureaucrats with their own agenda.

When I go into town and hear all the same whinging and whining about this policy, that idiot politician, that broken promise, that opinion why everything is going to sh!t, I tell them to look at One Nation's policies. Instead of watching cats drink beer on Facebook, take half an hour to look at the policy statements and tell me that they don't answer all your complaints.
Sorts out my concerns anyway, maybe not others.
Stop punching yourselves in the face over personalities... it's political ideals that are the problem right now. And blind voters.
