Canik Pistols

Yesterday my Club held our annual Titles shoot, recovering from medical issues I didn't shoot but assisted as R/O and Comp Officer, we had the good folks from Canik sponsor the shoot as well as bring 2 pistols for members to try out, the all polymer TP9 Service pistol issued to the Turkish Army and several International Police Forces, and the all steel SFx Rival competition ready pistol, as well as a display of the accessories available to fully customize the comp pistol. Not owning a striker-fired pistol, but having trialled the offerings from Glock, Beretta (loved the APX), S&W and Walther, I can only give my impressions of firing a dozen or so rounds from each, but from those initial results I have to say that the Canik is an easy gun to shoot well, especially the SFx. the triggers are very smooth and crisp with the type of longer travel common the the striker-fired types, sights are quick and easy to acquire, on the SFx everything is able to be changed including the optical sight mounting plates to suit whatever sight you currently use so you don't have to by new sights or mounts. The trigger on the SFx is also much lighter than the Service pistol and whilst not adjustable as sold a fully adjustable trigger is available for those who like to refine things further. All things considered I would highly recommend people have a look at these as an option for Service or IPSC, or just general comp shooting, Cheers.

Did they say what prices they are?

Having the grip width of a double-stack seems pointless nowadays when you're stuck with using 10rd mags. I'm still leaning toward the 1911 platform due to the narrower grip, it's more manageable for Rose. I did try the Sig Mosquito a couple weeks ago, very nice little .22 pistol, but an horrendous trigger.

I doubt I will ever get comfortable with the balance of polymer-framed pistols.

This post is interesting, as I was looking at the Canik. I have a fellow shooter who bought a Canik TP9 SFX Model 2 for around $900.
He let me have a go of it and I was quite impressed. Easy to shoot. I will give it some more thought though.

What dont you like about them..?

I had a look at a poly frame one the other day and thought it was pretty sweet..

The poly Rival was used by the winner of the USA Carry optics shoot this year and all the reviews on the steel frame Rivals are very positive as well with accuracy being a noted feature...the unusual trigger feels really nice as well..

I'm thinking of getting one for IPSC optics shoots..unless I can find a reason not to...?

@No1Mk3. How did you get on with the Canik. I hear good things about the TP9 SFX Rivals and the TTI Combats.
