I managed to step on my shooting glasses at the range, so jumped online to shop for another pair and came across the "Falcon Pro" by an Australian group that look good. But...... $810?! What?!

What am I missing?
What's wrong with a $15 pair of polycarbonate glasses from Bunnings
NOTHING.
I looked at this very closely a few years ago.
1. Shooting glasses never tell you what standard they are made to. (Impact resistance)
2. The US workplace safety glasses are made to a slightly lower std than the AU workplace glasses.
3. IIRC AU safety glasses are made to one of the highest standards on the planet.
4. All AU safety glasses are meant to be optically perfect. Reality is they are not. So, pay a bit extra.
5. How you clean all glasses is important to prevent micro scratches so, follow the correct procedure.
6. Regarding .2, a highly competent mechanical engineer did the calculations for me to come to that conclusion.
7. If you need prescription safety glasses ENSURE they are made to the safety glasses standard (must be polycarbonate) and get a certificate. Unfortunately many people in the opticians are just sales people with SFA knowledge on the subject.
