Another PS, if you want to trust an old Pom on the internet the following loads form a start point for 22 savage Hi Power. NB these loads work OK in my 1918 Rifle but it's my eyes and my fingers at risk, you use the data at your own risk.
50 grain varmint grenade + PC 27 grains CFE223,
55 grain cast +gas check and PC 25 grain CFE223
62 grain BTSP + PC 28 grains CFE 223.
If you can get LOVEX powder down there, for the 62 grain spbt S062 start at 25.5 grains, S065 start at 27.8.(these are the LOVEX start at loads for the 70 grain SP so are quite mild).
The 55 grain cast with gc and PC works with 8 grains of 2400, 6 grains of hodgdon Universal OR LOVEX D036, gives around 1600 -1700 fps.
I use either S&B LRP or Magtech LRP. Seat the bullet out at around 62mm OAL minimum, in the case of the 55 cast you may have to allow this to be longer to get the ogive out the case neck.
It pays to expand the case mouths to get a good start for the bullet so the powder coating isn't torn off, I have started putting a little rub of lee's liquid alox on the shank of the bullet to help it on its way, it can't hurt can it? I give them a medium-ish crimp on my lee factory crimp die.
My predictive software suggests that the jacketed rounds with the loads I've indicated should make between 2600 and 2850 fps at the muzzle and around 40,000 psi - they can be loaded much faster, but I stopped at the first good accuracy node even then the barnes VG was exceeding 3000 fps on my magnetospeed chrono.which makes it quite destructive if I can hit anything with the peep sights. Certainly covids come apart at the seams.
I don't load any that show up on my software as exceeding 45000psi
Can I reiterate, if you use this data you use it at your own risk, I mean how much can you trust a bloke on the internet. I wore safety glasses and clean Kax. But I've not seen any pressure signs as yet and on some of the loads even got carbon back on the neck.
